The ³Ô¹ÏÍø men’s basketball team will host St. Vincent (Pa.) in a first-round game of the NCAA Division III tournament at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Branch Rickey Arena, it was announced by the NCAA on Monday.
Admission will be $6 for adults, and $3 for students. Â Tickets can be purchased from noon-4 p.m. on Friday at the Ohio Wesleyan athletics department in Edwards Gym. Â Pregame ticket sales will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Â Ohio Wesleyan students can pick up tickets between 9 a.m.-noon on Friday at the Ohio Wesleyan athletics department in Edwards Gym.
Ohio Wesleyan (22-5) won the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament championship, defeating then-17th-ranked Wooster in the championship game on Saturday. Â Ohio Wesleyan was ranked No. 21 in the final regular-season D3hoops.com poll. Ohio Wesleyan will be making its second consecutive NCAA Division III playoff appearance and its fourth overall. Â The Battling Bishops won the NCAA Division III national championship in 1988 and advanced to the sectional semifinals (Sweet 16) in 2008.
St. Vincent (23-5) won the Presidents’ Athletic Conference championship with a 15-1 record, then took the PAC tournament with an 81-67 win over Thomas More in the title game. St. Vincent is making its first NCAA Division III championship appearance. Â Ohio Wesleyan and St. Vincent have met once on the hardwood, with the Bishops taking an 82-77 decision during the 2010-11 season.
The winner of Saturday’s first-round game will face the winner of Saturday’s game between Cabrini (Pa.) and Hampden-Sydney (Va.) in a second-round game to be played on the campus of one of the competing institutions.
