Introduction to the Department
Ohio Wesleyan is one of the few schools in the country to offer a rich liberal arts education with a professionally oriented majors in journalism and communication. Undergraduate journalism and communication students learn the how's and why's of their profession but also acquire a wealth of knowledge from Ohio Wesleyan's liberal arts curriculum.
Department Features
- You learn by doing as reporters and editors for The Transcript, the oldest independent student newspaper in the United States; as broadcasters and producers for OWU Radio, a student-run radio station; and through a number of off-campus internship opportunities for businesses specializing in print, digital, broadcast, and online news media.
- The heart of the program consists of closely directed work in writing, media production, communication strategy, and developing the research and interviewing skills of the best reporters and communication professionals working today.
