The 2024 election is widely considered to be one of the most important and contentious in many years. And it may be a stressful time for students, faculty, and staff - and for people across the nation. We encourage the entire OWU community to vote and participate fully in the U.S. electoral process. On this website we provide information about voting and details about events and resources you may find helpful before, during, and after election day.
OWU has created a to help you understand the voting options specific to your circumstances and preferences. Please note it is ultimately your responsibility to verify any information you find in the tool.
Election Day is November 5.
Make a Voting Plan
- Election Day is Tuesday, November 5, 2024. You can choose to vote by mail (absentee ballot), vote early, or vote on Election Day
- Vote By Mail (absentee ballot) - you can request your ballot to be sent to your campus mailbox and mail the completed ballot back to the designated Board of Elections by Election Day. You can request your Ohio absentee ballot . Ohio's absentee request deadline is October 29. For more information about requesting an absentee ballot from your home state (not Ohio) Please note, your home state's absentee deadline may be different than Ohio's deadline.
- Vote Early In-Person - you can vote early at the Delaware County Board of Elections (2079 US Highway 23 N Ste 4) 8am-4:30pm from October 8 - November 3.
- Vote In-Person on Election Day - you can vote at your polling location on November 5 between the hours of 6:30am and 7:30pm. You can find your Delaware County polling location
Go Vote!
- If you're voting by mail, be sure to have your completed ballot returned BEFORE November 4. Do not wait until the last minute to mail back the completed ballot. Be sure to have correct postage.
- If you're voting in-person early or on Election Day, be sure to have one of the approved You must have an unexpired Ohio drivers licence, Ohio identification, US military identification, US Veterans Affairs ID card, US passport or US passport card in order to vote in-person in Ohio.
- OWU will provide transportation for students to vote at Delaware County polling locations on Election Day from 8am-5pm. The shuttle will pick students up from the roundabout between Chappelear Theater and HamWill every 15-20 minutes
Watch The Results
- Polls close 7:30 pm and election results coverage starts as early as 7pm for cable news sources like CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC
- Dr. Brianna Mack will provide commentary for Spectrum News 1 from 7pm-11pm
Things to Keep in Mind On Election Day
- Your vote matters. Exercise your right to do so! 18 to 24-year-olds have lower voter turnout in comparison to other age groups. Let's change that for the 2024 Election.

Electoral integrity refers to the fairness of the entire voting process and how well the process protects against election subversion, voter suppression, and other threats to free and fair elections. The goal is to maintain public confidence in the electoral process by ensuring that the outcome of an election truly reflects the will of the people.
- False claims of fraud are driving attempts to interfere with the independent, nonpartisan counting of votes and certification of election results.

Election crimes are crimes that attempt to influence the operation of or results of an election. Election crimes are extremely rare. The few instances fall into one of four categories:
- Campaign Finance - such as a candidate accepts funds that violate the amount permitted by law
- Voter Fraud - such as someone illegally casting a vote in the name of a dead person
- Voter fraud is an extremely rare occurence. In 2020, Ohioans cast 6 million votes. Of those 6 million votes, 27 votes were flagged as possible fraud. Of those 27 potentially fraudeulent votes, only 6 were .
- Civil Rights Violations - involving voter intimidation, coercion, threats or other tactics to suppress a person's ability to vote
- The works year round to ensure all voters have an equal opportunity to vote and have that vote count. If any issues arise on Election Day, call 1-866-687-8683 and agents will report the issue to the appropriate state and local level election officials
