Mark Schwartz joined the department in 1986. His primary teaching interests include calculus, differential equations, probability, real analysis, complex variables, and geometry.
Professionally, Schwartz is interested in applications of computer software to mathematics, particularly in the visual disciplines of geometry and differential geometry. He has published and given lectures on applying geometric methods to solve problems in optimization, and has mentored students on this subject in OWU's Summer Scholarship and Research Program.
Schwartz has a number of outside interests including running, swimming, spectator sports, travel, and reading. He completed a 5K open water swim in Lake Michigan in 2007, and ran the Boston Marathon in 2014.
