He earned his master's in Exercise Science from the University of California, PA in 2009 with a focus on athletic performance and injury prevention, and completed his doctorate from the United States Sports Academy in 2016, where he researched the relationship of movement screens with athletic injuries. He is a registered Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

He currently teaches courses in the Exercise Science concentration, serves on the University's Institutional Review Board (IRB), and is the faculty advisor for pre-physical therapy and pre-occupational therapy students.

Research Focus

He is interested in all aspects of human movement relative to injury prevention and health optimization. Specific aims of his research focus on bridging the gap from evidence-based research to clinicians, therapists, and coaches. The interaction of these areas initially seem distinct, yet his approach to different research questions is grounded in the fundamental concept of neurodevelopmental principles which control human movement and posture. By utilizing movement assessment information, and understanding how to restore dysfunction through the rehabilitation approach of Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS), his research questions seek to enhance individual outcomes and provide practical applications for individuals' sustained health, wellness and performance. Dr. Busch acts as a key component in developing integrative approaches for wellness-based approaches aimed at optimizing lifelong health and performance.
