Residential Life is excited to accept applications for 2026-2027 Resident Assistant and Moderator positions beginning November 10, 2025 and through January 18, 2026! The 2026-2027 application is for both new applicants and current staff members who want to return to the position. Applicants will be asked to upload a resume and provide two on-campus references as part of the application process.

Resident Assistants serve in all residential communities that are not SLUs. You can learn more about the Resident Assistant role by reviewing the position description HERE.
The Resident Assistant selection process will consist of:
1. A review of application materials
2. An interview that will last approximately 20 minutes
3. A review of OWU academic and student conduct records
Moderators serve in Small Living Units (SLUs). You can learn more about the Moderator role by reviewing the position description HERE.
The Moderator selection process will consist of:
1. A review of application materials
2. An interview that will last approximately 20 minutes
3. A review of OWU academic and student conduct records
4. An assessment of support from current SLU members
Information - A housing credit is applied to the student's account. Half of the amount is posted to the fall semester student bill, and half is posted to the spring semester student bill.
1st Year RAs/Mods - $6,874/academic year
2nd Year RAs/Mods - $7,175/academic year
3rd Year RAs/Mods - $7,411/academic year
Information - RAs/Mods get a single room as a benefit of the position, and pay the rate of a multiple-occupancy room. The monetary value of that benefit is listed below.
Monetary value of $1,842 in 2025-2026
Information - RAs/Mods work desk shifts and duty shifts as part of their position. Desk and duty shifts come with incentive pay. If an RA/Mod works their fair share of desk and duty shifts, each RA/Mod will earn an additional $1,170.
Desk Shift Incentive - A 2hr desk shift will earn an RA $21.40/shift
Duty Shift Incentive - A duty shift will earn an RA $42.80/shift
1st Year RAs/Mods - $8,044 + $1,842 single room discount
2nd Year RAs/Mods - $8,345 + $1,842 single room discount
3rd Year RAs/Mods - $8,581 + $1,842 single room discount

The RA and Moderator positions are amazing leadership opportunities. As a Res Life student staff member you'll be a role model and provide critical support to fellow students. Thus, training is provided so RAs and Moderators can learn how to be successful in meeting position responsibilities. RAs and Moderators will participate in the following training:
