Theme Communities are spaces offered in our residence halls that allow students to learn, grow, and participate in programs across the broad interests of today's college students. By living in a theme community, students have the unique opportunity to build connections with peers, faculty, and staff through shared activities, collaborative events, and hands-on experiences that enrich their collegiate journey.
All new First Year students will have an opportunity to share their most preferred theme floors (up to five). Transfer students will have the ability to identify if they are interested in living in a specific transfer community. All you need is a general curiosity to make living in your theme community a successful and enjoyable experience!
Theme Communities are designed to enhance the residential experience by fostering a sense of community and promoting collaboration across interests.

First-Year Theme Communities - OWU Residential Life offers 10 theme communities for incoming first-year students that cover a wide range of interests. These communities are ever-changing based on the interest of incoming students. All floors are designed to be broad and allow students to engage in programming happening on all floors.
Upper-Class Theme Communities - If a group of returning students desires to live together in one of our residence halls around a specific theme, we encourage those students to contact Residential Life at reslife@owu.edu to begin conversations about developing their theme community.
This community offers students new to the Ohio Wesleyan community, but familiar with the college experience, the opportunity to live with other students who are transferring to OWU. This allows students the opportunity to develop a network of peer support while also living in a residential community with other returning OWU students.
