Each year, the ³Ô¹ÏÍø Sagan National Colloquium (SNC) spotlights an issue of enduring concern in the liberal arts as well as in public life. This year's SNC theme is devoted to an investigation of global health challenges in both the developed and developing world. It will address new/emerging infectious diseases and the social determinants of health, food security, and environmental impact. We will explore what specific roles are played by governments and non-governmental organizations in health promotion. We will also examine different health care strategies employed in different communities of the world to overcome disparities in healthcare access. We will additionally address the relationship between global health and national security. Finally, SNC will explore the role philanthropy can play in meeting global health challenges for the future.
